A full day of prototype railroad models, displays, learning stations, hands-on demonstrations, hear from select manufacturers, and more at the Concord Community Centre, NSW.

Bring your models

Your models are at the core of Sydney RPM. Hundreds of creations from modelers like you will be showcased. Feel free to bring your finished or in-progress models — of any era, scale, prototype, or size.

Learn new skills

Teach, learn and collaborate with fellow modellers from around Australia. We are delivering demonstrations and learning stations from renowned Australian modellers, manufacturers and guest creative talent applicable to all railroad prototype modellers.

A4 Prototype Diorama Challenge

Create an A4 sized Prototype Diorama and bring it along, with an A4 photo of the prototype scene used as your inspiration. It is a challenge not a contest, more modelling creates great modellers. Have fun with a different prototype or experiment with a new method. There will be an additional prize draw for those participating in this challenge.

Learning stations

We are offering fourteen learning stations over the day given by nationally known modellers and manufacturers.

The learning stations include hands-on opportunities in weathering wheel sets, kit builds, weathering locomotives, making backdrops, laying track, tree making, install DCC sound and mini LEDs, painting figures, modelling hard stands and paved areas, 3D printing as well as fabricating small metal detail parts and all about soldering and much more.

You get to have a go and take home your work.

Vendors

Select vendors with a particular focus on fine scale detail parts, 3D printing and prototype modelling are onsite and available. All vendors will have a hands on building their kits demonstration during the day or another interactive activity. They will share detailed techniques and advice including how to undertake prototype research and how to best make use of their products including painting and weathering applicable to all prototypes, scales and eras.

We want this to be a new type of event in Australia, “by modellers for modellers.”

The intention is for every attendee to go home having learnt a new skill or technique so that when they make their next model, it is their best model yet.

We will do this by collaborating, sharing, listening and learning new skills and techniques with the best of the best in Australia at railroad prototype modelling in a professional and collegial environment.

There are no contests.

At the time of purchasing your ticket, you will be asked to download and fill out the form as part of bringing your model.

How much is admission?

$75 pre sold tickets only.
Make connections with access to the experience of expert manufacturers and modellers. Participate in hands-on learning stations, to improve your modelling and learn new skills. Limited to 155 tickets only. Includes lunch, barista service, attendee gift bag and door prize entry. No public admission on the day.

No model no entry?

Not quite, but the whole purpose is to bring a model(s) based upon prototype information to display and discuss with your peers.

Dedicated tables and spaces are provided free to display your models, download and complete the model display form so your model is understood and your efforts are appreciated.
